Achieve BC Achieve BC brings together educational tools and information for promoting learning and achievement in early childhood, grade school, post-secondary, and the world of work. Service BC Centres provide access to the Achieve BC website through the CATs. Online
Address Change If you are moving within British Columbia, you can use this website to electronically send change of address information to: Medical Services Plan, B.C. driver's licence, Insurance Corporation of B.C. The Address Change website is available on Community Access Terminals (CATs) in Service BC Centres. Online
Agriculture and Lands The Ministry of Agriculture and Lands promotes sustainable land use and the production of agriculture and aquaculture products. Service BC Centres provide access to the Ministry of Agriculture and Lands website through the CATs. Online
Ambulance Billings  BC Ambulance Service (BCAS) provides public ambulance service in BC. Service BC Centres accept payments for ambulance billings and can make enquiries on your behalf including application for waiving ambulance fees through an appeal process through the Premium Assistance process. Angling e-Licensing This web site allows to purchase and pay online for a freshwater fishing licence for recreational purposes.

Community Access Terminals (CATs) are available in Service BC centres. These terminals provide access to information on government programs and services, as well as electronic applications for a wide variety of government services. Service BC staff can assist the public with a brief overview of the use of the CATs.

Service BC Centres also sell licences directly to the public.

BC Assessment Information

BC Assessment evaluates and classifies real property (land) and improvements (buildings, machinery, etc.) for the purposes of real property taxation.

BC Assessment records are public and may be searched in any assessment office.

 

Information is available online, but searches are available only to BC Online subscribers.

Service BC Centres provide computerized assessment search information to the public, Crown, Crown Agencies, and tax authorities. 

All Service BC Centres are able to conduct a search with a title number, parcel identifier number, legal description or a registered owner's name or residential address. Fees Apply

BC Bid BC Bid allows one to access, create, browse and compete on public sector opportunities. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Bid website through the CATs. Online
BC Courts BC Court Services provides access to all levels of courts in British Columbia, including provincial, county, supreme and the BC Court of Appeal.

Service BC Centres:

  • respond to telephone and general enquiries from the public.
  • fax copies of any dispute to the appropriate court registry.
Service BC Centres do not accept or account for restitution, trust fines, federal fines or municipal fines.

BCeID A BCeID account provides secure electronic access to many government services online. Service BC assists customers with inquiries and transactions related to Business and Personal BCeID. Service BC Centres provide access to the BCeID website through the CATs. Online
BC Geographical Names BC Geographical Names Information System (BCGNIS) is the master database for British Columbia's place names. Service BC Centres provide access to the BCGNIS website through the CATs. Online
BC Geological Survey The BC Geological Survey is responsible for the inventory of the province's mineral, coal, and aggregate reserves and resources. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Geological Survey website through the CATs. Online
BC Government Publications Index The BC Government Publications Index provides access to Government of British Columbia publications, participating School Districts and Alberta Trades Learning Modules. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Government Publications Index through the CATs. Online
BC Health Guide BC HealthGuide is a self-care program available 24 hours every day, with the BC HealthGuide Handbook, BC NurseLine, BC Health Files and a website to help you better understand and manage your health. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Health Guide website through the CATs. Online
BC Housing Rental Assistance Program The Rental Assistance Program provides eligible low-income, working families with cash assistance to help with their monthly rent payments.
To qualify, families must have a gross household income of $35,000 or less, have at least one dependent child, and have been employed at some point over the last year.
Service BC provides referrals to BC Housing website and information on the Rental Assistance Program. Online
BC Human Rights Tribunal The BC Human Rights Tribunal is responsible for accepting, screening, mediating and adjudicating human rights complaints. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Human Rights Tribunal website through the CATs. Online

BC Hydro

 

BC Hydro provides power in British Columbia.
Service BC Centres accept payments for BC Hydro billings and can make enquiries on behalf of the public.  In Person
BC Ombudsman The Ombudsman receives inquiries and complaints about the practices and services provided by public agencies. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Ombudsman website through the CATs. Online
BC OnLine BC Online provides access to information on Land Titles, Property Assessments, BC Companies, registrations under the Personal Property Security Act (i.e., Liens and Security Agreements), and a range of other useful information services. BC Stats

BC Stats provides a variety of services ranging from producing monthly or quarterly reports with data tables and an article reporting on a current issue of relevance, to custom work provided on a fee-for-service basis.

Service BC Centres provide CATS access for customers to view and print BC Stats reports.

Bingo Licences The Ministry of Housing and Social Development, Gaming and Enforcement Branch administers licenses for regular bingos, combination games, pre-called and odd-even games, progressive prize games, and bonus games.

Application forms for Class "A" events (those expected to generate more than $20,000 in gross revenue) are available at Service BC Centres and online. Please allow eight to twelve weeks for processing an "A" licence.

Applications for Class “B” events (those expected to generate $20,000 or less in gross revenue) and Class “D” events (those expected to generate $5,000 or less in gross revenue) must be mailed to the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch in Victoria for processing.

Birth, Death and Marriage Certificates The Vital Statistics Agency also issues certificates pertaining to Change of Name services, Marriage Licences, Vital Statistics in BC, Wills, Notices and Searches. Service BC Centres accept applications and payments for Birth, Death, and Marriage certificates. Service BC Centres maintain a supply of forms for all Vital Statistics functions. Online / In Person
Bizpal Bizpal provides a customized list of potential permits and licences from all levels of government required to operate a business. Service BC Centres provide access to the Bizpal website through the CATs. Online
Boater Safety Boater Registration since September 2002 requires operators of pleasure crafts fitted with motor and used for recreational purposes to have proof of competency. MTAC is approved by the Canadian Coast Guard to provide safe boating courses. Service BC Centres are a point of sale location for home study boater manuals. They also proctor and mark Canadian Coast Guard approved exams. Fees apply. In Person
British Columbia Community Achievement Awards The British Columbia Achievement Foundation is an independent foundation established and endowed by the Province of British Columbia in 2003 to celebrate excellence and achievement. Service BC Centres provide access to the BC Community Achievement Awards website through the CATs. Online
Building and Safety Policy Branch The Building and Safety Policy Branch is responsible for developing and implementing a modern legislative framework for regulating safety in the design, construction and occupancy of buildings. Service BC Centres provide access to the Building Policy Branch website through the CATs. Online
Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) The Business Practices and Consumer Protection Authority (BPCPA) is a not-for-profit corporation that delivers consumer protection services throughout British Columbia. Service BC Centres provide access to the BPCPA website through the CATs. Online
Canada Business Service Centre Network The Canada Business Service Centre Network is a government information service for businesses and start-up entrepreneurs in Canada. Service BC Centres provide access to the Canada Business website through the CATs. Online
Canada Business Start Up Assistant  The Business Start-up Assistant provides business start-up information from the federal and provincial governments, as well as other sources. Service BC Centres provide access to the Business Start-up Assistant through the CATs. Online
Canada Customs and Revenue Agency  The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) administers:
the tax laws for the Government of Canada and for most provinces and territories; and various social and economic benefit and incentive programs delivered through the tax system.
Service BC Centres provides referral services for tax information as well as income tax forms through CATs. Online
Canada Student Loans  The Canada Student Loans Program provides loans and grants to Canadians attending universities, colleges, trade schools, or vocational schools. Students can use the CATs to apply for or obtain information about student loans. Online
Canadian Coast Guard  The Canadian Coast Guard web site provides information on the Coast Guard service levels and fleet information. Service BC Centres provide access to the Canada Coast Guard website through the CATs. Online
Canadian Consumer Information Agency   The Federal Government Office of Consumer Affairs provides a single website with consumer information, tools and services. Service BC provides referral services for the Canadian Consumer Information Agency through the CATs. Online
Canadian Rural Partnership Through its online tool, the Community Information Database (CID), the Canadian Rural Partnership provides communities and governments with consistent, reliable and accessible information on economic and demographic factors at the community level. Service BC Centres provide access to the Canadian Rural Partnership website through the CATs. Online
Charitable Gaming Only charitable or religious organizations may be licensed to conduct charitable gaming events. To be considered charitable, organizations must be non-profit and exist primarily for public service or community benefit.
The "B" licence application fee is $25.00.

Service BC Centres provide assistance for those wishing to apply for "B" and "D" gaming licences for local charitable events (bingo, ticket raffle, special occasion casino and wheel of fortune) where gross sales for all events in one year do not exceed $20,000.

D events cannot exceed $10000 gross/YR.

Service BC accepts payment and application, but does not approve/issue licence. Turn around time is 3 business days.

Organizations may apply online and pay with credit card.

Child Care Search Parents can search for licensed child care facilities by city, by postal code and by licence category using the new child care search tool. Childcare searches are available at Service BC Centres through the CATs. Online
Child Care Subsidy Program The Child Care Subsidy is a monthly payment that helps British Columbia families meet the costs of child care. A calculation that takes into account your income and family size determines eligibility. Childcare searches are available at Service BC Centres through the CATs. Online / In Person
Citizenship and Immigration Canada  The Citizenship and Immigration web site provides information on Canada's immigrant programs. Service BC Centres can provide pathfinding services for information on Citizenship and Immigration through the CATs. Online
CivicInfo BC (Local Government) CivicInfo BC facilitates the exchange of local government information on organizations and agencies, suppliers, bids and tenders, surveys and statistics, careers, and so on. Service BC Centres provide access to the CivicInfo BC website through the CATS. Online
Commissioner for Taking Affidavits

Commissioners for Taking Affidavits for British Columbia are empowered to administer oaths and take affidavits, declarations and affirmations concerning any cause, proceeding, matter or thing before the Supreme Court or any other Court in the Province.

At least one staff member in each Service BC Centre is appointed as a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits.

Consumer Taxes

The Ministry of Small Business and Revenue runs various consumer tax programs including hotel room tax, motor fuel tax, provincial sales tax, and tobacco tax.

Service BC Centres provide forms for hotel room tax, registration, vendor registration, and remittance.  Offices also accept monthly remittances for sales tax and equipment/business sale and can assist with problems or inquiries.

Corporate Registry

The Corporate Registry allows business and society name searches,
company name searches, registrations, partnership/ proprietorship searches. The Corporate Registry provides the legal framework and files documents for the incorporation, registration, maintenance and dissolution of companies, societies and co-operatives active in British Columbia.


Registration of Proprietorships/ Partnerships can be done online at http://www.onestopbc.ca.

Forms to register a society or a partnership/proprietorship are available from your local Service BC Centre.  Various Service BC Centres stock Self-Counsel Press forms to register a limited or incorporated company. If, however, your local office does not sell Self-Counsel Press Publications, you will be able to obtain these forms from a stationary store. 

Service BC Centres can assist in the Reservation of the Business Names for Societies, Co-Operatives, Partnerships/Proprietorships, BC Corporations and Extraprovincial Companies and usually take two working days to finalize the transaction.

Court Services The Court Services Branch is responsible for providing timely and equitable access to all patrons of the various levels of courts in British Columbia, including provincial, county, supreme and the BC Court of Appeal. Service BC Centres:
  • respond to telephone and general enquiries from the public.
  • provide the public with information packages on small claims court.
  • provide statistical information to the nearest court administrator.
  • fax copies of any dispute to the appropriate court registry.
Service BC Centres do not accept or account for restitution, trust fines, federal fines or municipal fines. Cheques or money orders in payment of these fines can be accepted and forwarded to the appropriate court registry. In these cases, the customer is advised that the Service BC Centre does not accept responsibility for transmission of the funds, and they are not counted as received until in possession of the appropriate court.

Crown Land Registry The Crown Land Registry Information System (CLRIS) is a computerized record of Land Act surface encumbrance information for Crown land in British Columbia.

Service BC Centres:

  • provide computerized Crown land status information to the public
  • when available, carry copies of lists of Crown land currently available to the public for purchase, lease, etc.
  • If a published list is not available, staff will provide the public with contact addresses and telephone numbers for the land office managing the area of interest.

Driver's Licence Services ICBC provides driver’s licence services on behalf of the Provincial Government.

Service BC Centres provide front line driver's licence services in 29 locations throughout the province. For a list of locations, click here.

Services include Driver Written Testing, Vision Screening for all classes of driver’s licences, Licence issuance; Drivers Licence Road Sense Manuals and Brochures; Drivers Licence Abstracts, Address Changes; Snowmobile registrations, transfers; Issuance of Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program forms and decals; Forms and information on Vehicle Impoundments; Administrative Driving Prohibitions and suspensions; Accepts payments for traffic fines and Driver Premiums.
